(1958) Tennis for Two the first ever computer game, was made.

(1962) SPACEWAR which is a shootup game was first released.

(1971) The first coin-op Arcade was opened to the public in the USA.

(1972) PONG became the most successful game for coin-op arcades.

(1974) PONG for ATARI home computer was first released.

(1976) Fairchild releases the channel f, a computer console for cartridges. Available software, TIC TAC TOE, PADDLE, HOCKEY.

(1977) Another shoot-up game was released which was called SPACE INVADERS.

(1978) ATARI’S VCS 2600 became a commercial success as a hybrid station consisting of a tv set, videogame-software and computer.

(1980) PAC MAN was released by Nintendo and became a long lasting success as well as an arcade game as a home computer game.

(1982) DONKEY KONG was released by Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The computer industry faces its first international crash.

(1989) Nintendo releases GAMEBOY and the game TETRIS.

(1990) Nintendo realease and sell SUPER MARIO BROS. Game is worth 500 Mio. $ Worldwide.

(1991) SEGA makes a splash with SONIC THE HEDGEHOG.

(1993) DOOM becomes the most popular shoot-up game

(1998) UNREAL1 was released by Epic Megagames.

(1999) 400 artists contibute to the development of FINAL FANTASY VII. For the first time the budget for a single computer game equals the budjet of a Hollywood Movie production.

An interesting and detailed review of the history of computers, with specific information and good images. A nostalgic view of the development of technology through the decades. I can remeber playing all of those games through my childhood ( i feel like an old codger now!)
The site was informative and enlightning with colour and sound but the subject was as much use as an astray on a motorbike only the prospect of turning a disc into a spinner or luer for a fish or ash tray, kept me enthralled.
